St. George Church was closed in 1985 for 16 years. The Church reopened on the Sunday of Thomas, 27 April 2003. This Sunday is the Sunday following Pascha (Easter). Inside the Church in a movie Feb. 20, 2005 We thank all the people who contributed prayers, time, effort, and money for the past several years. The number of people is very large. There is not room to begin to name a significant portion of these generous people. Many new items were needed. Among the items needed were a new Altar and a new Preparation Table. These items are made of carved stone because stone is the local building material and stone masons are the local carvers. Zababdeh is know for the quality of its stone and of its stone masons. Abouna Firas Boutros Khoury Diab did much of the construction, repair and maintainence work. Further, when he could not do the physical work, he was the overseer of the work, the purchaser of the materials, and the hirer, supervisor, and payer of the workers. Also, he also obtained the approval of the civil authorities of Zababdeh. |

| In June, 20045, benches were purchased. (These benches are shown.) In Nov., 2005, benches were donated by the Melkite Church in Ramallah. |
||||||||||||
| The original benches were over 100 years old and were unsafe. They were simple benches, just wood on which to sit. These benches should last a hundred years. |
