Biography

Saint Ann or Ancester of Christ, Ann or Al-Qiddissah Hanna is the mother of The Theotokos and is the grandmother according to the flesh of Our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ

The Theotokos' birth saved her elderly parents, The Ancesters of Christ, Anne and Joachim, from the shame of having no children. This birth was a sign of Holy God's merciful love.

From The Theotokos's birth, her parents dedicated her to the service of Holy God.
When The Theotokos grew older, she served Holy God and also the whole human race by agreeing to give birth to the Incarnate Word and Son of God, Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ. The agreement is commemorated at the Great Feast of The Annunciation (Al Bisharah) of The Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary.

The Melkite Greek Catholic Church declared that The Ancester of Christ, Ann was a Saint. She is also called "Holy Ann."
