Olive Wood Project - Items available for a Donation at St. George Melkite Greek Catholic Church

The goal of the Olive Wood Project is to employ several men and women with part-time work to hand-make Olive Wood products.

Abouna Firas Khoury Diab is an experienced and skilled designer and carver of olive wood items. He learned to design olive wood products and to hand carve olive wood products in the Melkite oil wood stores/shops/factories during the 14 years that he studied in the Melkite minor and major seminaries in Beit-Sahour. After, Abouna left the seminary, he continued designing and producing hand carved olive wood products. Now, Abouna Firas is training the men of the parish in this craft.

Several families work part-time in the Olive Wood Project.

Usually, the olive wood religious products are only available locally. In special circumstances, Abouna Firas Khoury Diab will consider exporting the olive religious wood products. One negative in exporting olive wood religious products is the high cost of transportation.

The exported olive wood religious products are only available by donation. The exported olive wood religious products are not for sale. No exported olive wood religious product has been sold. Further, there are no plans to sell exported olive wood religious products. One reason is the high cost of transportation would make the cost of the exported olive wood religious products so high that a cost conscious person would buy from other vendor.

Please consider a donation for these olive wood items.
